Group Therapy

Healthy Habits Skills Group:

This group is designed for yo-yo dieters, emotional eaters, or individuals who have struggled to improve their nutrition and activity in order to improve health and quality of life. This group is based off of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and Intuitive Eating. Most people who have participated in this group find that the group is about changing your “mind” in order to make lasting behavioral changes. Each group is 50 minutes long and the series lasts for 12 consecutive weeks. OUR NEXT HEALTHY HABITS GROUP WILL START MONDAY JANUARY 16th. Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Group for Eating Disorder Recovery.

DBT Skills group includes four modules taught over the course of 24 weeks (Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance). DBT Skills group requires a commitment to working towards abstinence of target behaviors (restricting, bingeing, purging, over-exercising, self-harm, etc.). Each group lasts an hour and forty-five minutes. Each week, new skills are taught and homework is assigned between groups to practice and generalize skills.

Group members must participate in weekly individual therapy in addition to skills group. This can be with other therapists in the community. Members are required to complete diary cards each day to monitor thoughts, feelings, behaviors and skills utilized. Members also have the option of utilizing phone coaching with group therapists between groups to help generalize skills.
